



Kompyang is a biscuit popular in my hometown. It is the most important part in people’s dinner everyday in my hometown. Its taste is very plain and crisp. Different people like putting different things in the middle of Kompyang. I like putting meat and soy source. My sister like putting sugar or nothing. According to legend, the Kompyang was invented by a famous general who named Qi Jiguang . Qi Jiguang led his troops into Fujian in 1562 in order to defeat Japanese pirates. But it is so hard to fire the oven in raining season. So Qi Jiguang invented a kind of cake with a hole in the center so that they could be strung together to be conveniently carried along. The cake also could be keep long time and making quickly. People in Fujian commemorate Qi Jiguang’s victory against the pirate raiders, the cake were named Kompyang. Kompyang is made with lard, onions ,salt and flour. All cakes will be flattened with a rolling pin and approximately 15 minutes to bake. So it really need cooker moving super quickly.
